The beaches may be laid back, but the holidays are happening in Destin and on 30A this year (okay, and every year). From stunning light displays to snow fall to special concerts and events, there is so much fun to do during the holidays.

Skate into the Season with Baytowne on Ice

For coastal dwellers, ice-skating is a complete novelty (it never really snows here). The Village at Baytowne Wharf helps everyone get into the holiday spirit with Baytowne on Ice ice-skating from October 31 all the way through February 6. Skate times vary depending on the day of the week. One weekends, skating opens at 11 AM most Saturdays and 12 PM most Sundays. During the week, skating opens at 4 PM and lasts until 9 or 10 PM. The cost is $13 for 90 minutes; skates are $3 to rent.

Have Yourself a Beachy Little Christmas at the Island Resort on December 4

Holidays are great time to spend with family, which is why the Beachy Little Christmas at The Island Resort is one of the best holiday happenings in Destin. The Island located at 1500 Miracle Strip Parkway hosts Misty Claus, the resident holiday mermaid, starting at noon. The event lasts until 4 PM and features kid crafts, holiday music, cocktails and more! The snowman sand building contest on the beach starts at 12:30 PM and is as fun to watch as it is to participate in. The entire event is free for all to attend.

It’s a Jingle Bell Rockin’ Parade at the Downtown Destin Shopping Center on December 12

Christmas parades are as oh-so-fun to watch as it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh. The Jingle Bell Rock Destin Christmas Parade starts at the Downtown Destin Shopping Center on Saturday, December 11 at 10 AM and ends at 12 PM. If you want to join the festivities, plan to stand on the north side of Harbor Boulevard. It’s truly a swell time!

Stuff Stockings at the Olde Holiday Market at the HarborWalk Village on December 11

While you can shop any time, the HarborWalk Village is a great way to be on December 11. Santa, holiday activities, and live music will abound as you shop until you drop.

Tune into the Holidays at Baytowne Wharf on December 11

When you do drop fun a fun and busy day as the season truly gets into swing, make sure it’s in at the Tuba Christmas at Baytowne Wharf convert event from 5 to 7 PM. The show will take place at the Event Plaza and will feature all of your favorite holiday classics. This concert of brass instruments is free to attend and is such a fun way to get into the spirit of things.

Float into the Spirit with the Destin Harbor Lighted Christmas Boat Parade and Fireworks on December 12

On December 12, head to the Destin harbor for the annual Destin Harbor Lighted Christmas Boat Parade featuring inflatable décor and dazzlingly-lit boats along with the grand finale—a firework display! This fun holiday must-do starts at 6 PM.

12 Nights of Lights at the Village of Baytowne Wharf Wednesdays in December

The 12 Nights of Lights are a must-see during the holidays at Baytowne Wharf. Every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday leading up to Christmas, there will be three dazzling light shows on the Christmas tree taking place on the hour at 6, 7, and 8 PM. The sparkling light show will also take place during the special holiday edition of the Wednesday night concert series.

One Wednesday nights throughout the month of December starting at 6 PM, different performers from nearby high schools and elsewhere will get everyone into the holiday spirit with a concert of classic holiday tunes.

Warm Up with Bonfires on the Bay on Wednesdays in December

Even though our area is comparatively warmer than the rest of the country year-round, the evenings in winter and during the holidays get a little chilly, which is why the weekly Wednesday Night Bonfire at The Bay is the perfect holiday to-do.

Cozy up by a crackling fire on the beach from 5 to 8 PM on Wednesday nights to hear live music under the stars. December 22 will be especially festive with “A Sand Ole Opry Christmas”. It certainly ‘tis the season!

Seal in the Season at the Seaside Christmas Eve Service

On Christmas Eve at 3 PM, 4:30 PM and 6 PM, locals and visitors alike are invited to the Chapel at Seaside for a special holiday service that concludes with candlelight. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. Children are welcome.
