Things to Do

We know you love the sugar-white sands and emerald waters of the Gulf of Mexico, but are you familiar with the safety measures put into place by the State of Florida for Walton and Okaloosa counties?

Our area uses the Beach Flag Warning System, which was enacted into Florida law in 2005. While the Okaloosa and South Walton Beach Safety Divisions are constantly monitoring the water conditions and weather forecasts to provide the most accurate and timely water and surf information, it is important to be aware of the meanings behind the flag colors (as some unsafe uncoditions provide no visible indication from shore- like rip currents!) Flag colors are determined by the most dangerous surf or rip conditions within the county's beaches and the appropriate color flag or flags are flown at each beach access.

Be safe and have fun!
