With property cleanliness being more important than ever right now, we want to introduce you to our Housekeeping Manager, Kim Williams-Brown! Kim is a Tennessee native who has called the Emerald Coast home since 1999. She joined the My Vacation Haven team in May 2019 and has been an integral part of our operations ever since. What does your role of Housekeeping Manager entail?
As housekeeping manager, I am responsible for managing and assigning cleaners for our 300+ vacation rentals. With properties stretching from Destin to 30A, our team stays busy making sure our homes and condos are safe, sanitized and ready to host amazing beach vacations!
We also have a full laundry facility and staff that are within my department. When our team visits a property after the guest checks out, every linen and towel, regardless of use, is removed, sanitized and professionally laundered in our own commercial grade laundry, utilizing commercial-grade laundry chemicals, gas dryers, and hotter water temperatures. It’s an important part of keeping our guests safe and comfortable.
What does an average day at work look like for you?
An average day for me starts at 7:30am. First I go to the warehouse/laundry and take care of admin tasks. Then I usually venture out onto property to assist with inspections and training. As a Destin vacation rental management company, this is an integral part of our operations. We want to ensure that every guest is welcomed by a clean, sanitized home!
What is your favorite part of working with My Vacation Haven?
The best thing about working at My Vacation Haven is the comradery I share with my co-workers. I also love meeting new people through my job.
How has COVID-19 impacted the cleaning procedures for your team?
With the emergence of the coronavirus, the biggest impact to our cleaning procedures has been the need to train cleaners in proper use of PPE and to double check that high-touch areas are receiving additional attention. This includes doorknobs, remote control devices, bathroom hardware and handles, door handles, toilet handles, keypads and locks. We also provide all housekeepers and inspectors with protective masks and gloves to wear when cleaning or inspecting our vacation rentals. Lastly, we ensure that our team uses products that have been approved as effective for use against COVID-19 and other virus, bacteria and pathogens, as deemed by CDC/EPA guidelines. We know people are concerned about traveling during this unprecedented time, so we are doing everything we can to give them peace of mind when they stay with My Vacation Haven.
What are your favorite things to do on 30A?
I love watching my son surf on the beaches of 30A and watching my daughter play tennis on the clay courts of 30A.
