It’s almost time for one of the biggest fishing events on the Gulf! The Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic is back for its 23rd year, bringing five days of serious competition, exciting weigh-ins, and family-friendly fun to Sandestin.
Happening right in the heart of blue marlin season, this tournament attracts top anglers from around the country—and for good reason. Big fish, big prizes, and a great time for everyone involved. Even if you’re not fishing, there’s plenty to enjoy, from nightly weigh-ins at Baytowne Marina to all the shops, restaurants, and live entertainment at the Village of Baytowne Wharf.
Nightly weigh-ins are held in the evenings at the Baytowne Marina and are open to the public. The tournament takes place in one of the most productive fisheries in the United States, where in recent years, two blue marlin "Granders" weighing over 1,000 lbs were weighed in the Gulf. State records for blue marlin, bluefin and yellowfin tuna have also been broken at this local event.
This "modified release" tournament allows only blue marlin to be weighed and must meet a minimum length before they can be boated. Points are awarded for blue marlin, white marlin, sailfish, and spearfish releases. Top teams are eligible for cash prizes and awards.
