Things to Know

Your 30A vacation rental is booked, travel arrangements have been made and now the only thing standing in the way of your Florida beach vacation is packing. While this is not the most enjoyable task, it’s necessary to think through everything you’ll need in order to have an enjoyable, stress-free getaway. After all, you want to spend as much time as possible by the beach rather than shopping for clothes and other items you could have brought with you. Here is a helpful list of what to pack for your next escape to the beach!

Casual Clothing

Staring at your closet wondering which outfits to bring? Stop stressing! The beach communities along 30A are pretty casual and you’ll most likely spend the majority of your time in a swimsuit. Make sure to pack light, comfortable items such as shorts, T-shirts, sundresses and sandals. It can get hot and humid during the summer months, so breathable clothing is key.

Also, think about the activities you have planned as you consider what to pack. If you want to play tennis or golf, be sure to bring the appropriate shoes and clothes. Make reservations for a fancy dinner? Don’t forget to pack something a little dressier for the special occasion. This list should help get you started:

  • Swimsuits (at least two so that you always have a dry one)

  • Swimsuit cover-up

  • Shorts

  • T-shirts and tank tops

  • Sundresses

  • Sandals

  • Sneakers

  • Light jacket for chilly evenings or air-conditioned restaurants

  • Pajamas and loungewear

  • Underwear and socks

  • Accessories, such as a hat, beach bag and sunglasses

  • Workout clothes if you plan on visiting the fitness center or going for a run outside

Basic Toiletries

Save space in your suitcase by packing travel-sized toiletries. Other than plenty of sunscreen, just the basics should be enough for your week away. Don’t worry too much about what to pack. If you do forget something, there are plenty of grocery stores and markets near 30A where you can purchase items. Here are a few necessities you’ll want to bring:

  • Toothbrush and toothpaste

  • Floss

  • Medications

  • Soap or body wash

  • Deodorant

  • Shampoo and conditioner

  • Shaving cream and razor

  • Comb or brush

  • Hair styling products and tools

  • Lotion (maybe some aloe vera in case you get sunburned!)

  • Makeup and makeup remover

  • Face wash

  • Travel-sized first aid kit

  • Hand sanitizer and/or antibacterial wipes

  • Insect repellant

Many of our vacation rentals offer Beach Closets, which are stocked with essentials such as complimentary beach chairs, boogie boards and sand toys for use during your stay. We want you to pack less and play more! However, these are a few things you’ll want to bring from home or purchase when you get to 30A:

Other Travel Must-Haves

As you think about what to pack for your Florida beach vacation, consider what you’ll need while traveling (during your flight or road trip) and as you hang out at your vacation rental. Make sure you bring the electronics you use on a daily basis in addition to their chargers. You may also want to pack snacks and drinks to have on hand as well. These are a few miscellaneous items you should consider packing:
