While Highway 98 is a major road that spans the entire panhandle of Florida, Scenic Highway 98 is Destin’s own local hub of movement. Also referred to as Old 98, this two-lane road features some of the best views in the panhandle of Florida.
Scenic Highway 98 runs along the Gulf of Mexico showcasing Destin’s beautiful beaches alongside infamous local restaurants, gorgeous vacation rentals, and spacious walking paths.
The City of Destin and Okaloosa County teamed up recently to beautify local beach access points to include restrooms, expand public parking along the road, and build up sidewalk infrastructure along Old 98.
The results were a huge success. For those looking to experience a classic Destin vacation, look no further than Scenic Highway 98. There you will find larger homes individually owned and resorts that are beautifully maintained.
Authentic Destin restaurants you won’t want to miss such as Pompano Joes, Whales Tail and Crab Trap are all within walking distance where you can dine with some of the best views on The Emerald Coast from your tablecloth.
