Emerald Coast in October. Top 6 reasons to visit!

Sunny day at the beach

October has arrived along the Emerald Coast, and we’re quickly reminded why this is the best time of year for a Florida beach vacation. The temperatures are cooler, the skies are bluer, the water is clearer and the sand just seems even whiter during the fall months. Here is the top 6 reason why you must visit the Emerald Coast in October!

1. Great Rates. Speaking of deals, My Vacation Haven is featuring a great fall special offering 20% OFF, which applies for Stays 9/1/2015- 11/20/2015. Check out our available Emerald Coast vacation rentals online or call 1-800.553.0188. *Some restrictions might apply. With fall rates already discounted 20%, our vacation rentals are fantastically affordable now.

2. No waiting in lines when you go out to eat.

3. Warm Weather. Weather is still warm but not too warm – Early fall offers some ideal temperatures (highs in the 80s, lows in the 60s)

4. Seafood Festival: It’s that time again!! The Destin Seafood Festival is hosted along the Destin Harbor and is free to the public! On October 2-4, The Destin Seafood Festival celebrates fresh, Gulf seafood and features three stages of live music, including rock, reggae, and country, family activities and more. The month concludes with Halloween fun including Pumpkinpalooza (Oct. 30-31) featuring a Family Fun Fest at HarborWalk Village.

5. Fishing Rodeo: During the month of October, you should also go down to the docks. The Destin Fishing Rodeo is FREE to anglers who fish aboard boats registered in the Destin Fishing Rodeo. October 1st – 31st.

6. State Parks are beautiful in the Fall – For starters the area is home to five state parks teeming with wildlife and natural learning opportunities. Native species such as Blue Lupine bloom in the fall and the parks provide a feast for migrating butterflies including the famed Monarch. At Topsail Hill State Preserve, families will find 3.2 miles of white sand beaches, majestic towering dunes, three rare coastal dune lakes and miles of trails. Ranger programs  for October, include a guided hike (Oct. 3), program on the Eastern Gray Squirrel (Oct. 10), the Back to Nature Festival (Oct. 19) and feature on the Florida Black Bear (Oct. 31).

In addition to fun events, the great temperatures, low seasonal rates, fewer crowds, spectacular sunsets, and of course, the sugar sand beaches make it easy to say “yes” to a fall beach getaway. We know the beach is where you’d rather be this fall. See you soon!
