Baytowne Countdown – December 31st at 7pm
You don’t want to miss The Village of Baytowne Wharf’s end-of-year celebration! Come dance the night away and enjoy breathtaking fireworks as they light up the sky over the lagoon at 8pm and Midnight! The Baytowne LIVE Stage kicks off the night at 6pm with The Good Lookings and the first fireworks display kicks off at 8pm! The Village of Events Plaza Stage will be rocking all night long starting at 8pm with singer/songwriter Steve Moakler, whose album debuted at No. 1 on the SInger Songwriter Chart and Top 50 oveall iTunes Chart. First Day Hike at Grayton Beach State Park – January 1st from 9am – 11am
Grayton Beach State Park invites you to start the New Year out with a little outdoor activity during America’s State Park First Day Hike, Jan. 1 from 9-11 am. Join Assistant Park Manager Patrick Hartsfield for a 2 1/2 mile hike through the forest of Grayton Beach State Park. Learn about local flora and fauna while getting a little exercise on the 1st day of the New Year. Participants will meet at the Grayton Beach State Park ranger station at 9 am on New Year’s Day. Grayton Beach State Park is one of the most popular state parks in Florida, with massive dunes, winding trails, abundant wildlife, and shimmering 100-acre Western Lake, one of many coastal dune lakes gracing Scenic Highway 30A along Scenic 30A in South Walton (SoWal). Grayton Beach consistently ranks among the most beautiful and pristine beaches in the United States, providing an idyllic setting for swimming, sunbathing and surf fishing and provides the backdrop for golden sunrises and silver moonlit evenings. Not to be missed, the short nature trail that winds through the coastal forest where scrub oaks and magnolias stand, bent and twisted by the salt winds. Hikers and bicyclists can enjoy more than four miles of trails throughout the pine flatwoods. The trail has a moderate degree of difficulty and hikers are asked to wear/bring the following: hat, long pants, insect repellant, and closed toe shoes or hiking boots, bottled water. Sorry, but pets are not allowed. Persons 16 and under must be accompanied by a parent. Park admission fee for Day-Use guests is $5 per vehicle or $2 per bicycle/pedestrian. Registration starts at 11am at Gulf Place. “Plunge” starts at 1pm sharp! Gulf Place is located at the intersection of S. County Highway 393 and 30-A. $20 donation – All proceeds will benefit the SWFD Department Relations Committee (DRC). The DRC purchases fire/life safety educational-promotional items for community based educational programs that are held throughout the year. Chicken & Waffle Brunch Hydrobike Cruise to The Bay for Sunday Brunch – Weekly – from 10am – 2pm
Emerald Coast Hydrobikes is hosting a brunch cruise on the Choctawhatchee Bay each Sunday. Meet up at Tom’s Landing in Point Washington and cruise on hydrobikes across the Choctawhatchee Bay to The Bay Restaurant for Sunday brunch including Chicken and Waffles, bloody mary or mimosa. The cruise is about 30 minutes. The day’s event is 3-4 hours of fun adventure on the water and at The Bay. The cost is $60 per person and includes your hydrobike rental, brunch and a drink (gratuity not included. You must reserve your spot by Saturday at 5pm. Turn left and take the first driveway on the right. For kids not quite tall enough for pedaling the hydrobike (need to be nearly 5 feet tall), a tandem bike can be attached to parent bike. For smaller children, please discuss with Emerald Coast Hydrobikes. Hydrobikes are quiet and environmentally friendly pedal powered watercraft. Biking on water is easy for everyone on a stable craft made to stay upright in almost any condition. The outdoor market will feature dozens of unique vendors offering locally sourced food items, such as produce, eggs, milk, cream, butter, grass-fed beef, chicken, lamb, pork, local honey, pickled vegetables, and gourmet jams.
